Who Is Stephanie Swearington?
Hello and welcome! I am a passionate community advocate, lifelong learner, and connector with 30 years of leadership experience across Northwest Indiana. My career has been centered on building stronger organizations, developing meaningful programs, and empowering others to grow—both professionally and personally. I bring energy, creativity, and a great sense of humor to everything I do, because I believe leadership should be just as inspiring as it is effective.
Beyond titles and teams, I care deeply about whole health—mental, emotional, physical, and community wellness. I’m committed to learning, evolving, and becoming a better person every day. I’m also a wife and mom to two amazing children, and I strive to be a role model who shows them that compassion, strength, and purpose can go hand-in-hand. I couldn’t do any of this without the unwavering love and support of my incredible husband, James, who cheers me on through every challenge and celebrates every victory, big or small.
Music feeds my soul. I love going to live shows—there’s truly nothing better than the energy of a great concert. Traveling as much as I can is another joy of mine. Exploring this vast, beautiful world keeps me grounded, inspired, and in awe of life’s possibilities. I value deep relationships, meaningful conversations, and living authentically showing up as my full self in every space I enter.
I proudly serve on the boards of Opportunity Enterprises and the Valparaiso Creative Council, where I continue to advocate for inclusion, access, and creativity in our communities. As a 5-year breast cancer survivor, I’ve learned that life is too short to sit on the sidelines. That experience taught me to go after my dreams, lift others along the way, and lead with heart in everything I do.
